There are standards to adhere to and it’s still hard work. But in terms of getting started as soon as possible, like today, then working as a freelance writer for various websites is a great start.

No matter what you want to do online, being a great, solid writer is key. You can build up a great resume writing for these websites and better yet–get paid a decent income. But it can be hard if you don’t know where to start…. so we did some research for you :)

– Freelance Switch is a great resource for freelancers as they offer freelance information, how to be a better writer, etc. They offer a list of freelance jobs that you can search and see what is available. You can also apply to contribute to the blog Freelance Switch and if your application and test article are accepted, they will pay you a $50 writer’s fee.

– These sites are grouped together because they are similar. They are job boards specific to freelance positions. There are hundreds, if not thousands, jobs posted out there for various writing positions. The price paid for the various positions varies on the individual job. You can create a profile for future employers to review and see what wonderful work you have done in the past and how those past employers have reviewed your work.

They will pay between $50-$100 for accepted tutorials and between $30-$50 for accepted articles. A great way to make some extra money if you are familiar with any of these tools.

– ProBlog Design is yet another place where you can teach others by writing great tutorials on tools, issues, techniques, etc that web designers can use. Right now they are looking for posts to cover topics such as Design theory and advice, PHP, SEO, WordPress and JavaScript.
